Job Description
The incumbent will work closely with the Housing Manager to oversee the property and related duties. Experience in housing management a plus. Requires 2-3 years of experience in social service delivery with senior citizens; strong community relation skills and ability to relate to people of all ages essential.
SUPERVISION:
Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Housing Manager and general supervision of the Housing Director.
Exercised: None.
RATE: $19.11 (Experience will be considered)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist housing manager with the day to day activities of operating housing facility- i.e., annual re-certifications, apartment inspections, and wait list.
- Responsible for having adequate knowledge of HUD Handbook 4350.3 rules and regulations.
- Collect rents, issues receipts, make deposits, and runs necessary reports at the request of the Housing Manager.
- Responsible for maintaining effective client relations.
- Responsible for supportive service coordination for residents as needed. All information pertaining to residents and their families should remain confidential at all times.
- Will be responsible for conducting orientations for new move-ins.
- Responsible for Effective Communications, including the ability to works as part of a team.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel when needed.
- Will maintain professional boundaries with all current, past, and prospective clients, and maintain the confidentiality of clients and staff, in accordance with SNHS policy and procedure.
- Abide by all SNHS Safety policies and procedures.
- Present professional and positive image as a representative of SNHS.
- Responsible for having adequate knowledge of all SNHS programs and will gather sufficient intake information to make referrals to other SNHS programs which are beneficial to the client and his/her family.
- Perform other related duties as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong writing, organizational skills and working knowledge of computer essential, must be proficient at utilizing rental software program.
- Knowledge of accounting procedures.
- Ability to properly follow and apply Professional Boundaries.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of supportive services and other resources for senior citizens.
- Ability to advocate, problem solve, and help residents to maintain their independent lifestyles.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree. Experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Two/three years of experience in social service delivery with senior citizens.
- Strong customer service skills, experience in property management and Boston Post rental software a plus.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Must have Microsoft Excel skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Sensitivity to the needs of the elderly and individuals from diverse social, cultural and economic backgrounds.
- Knowledge of local/regional housing and social service resources.
- Certified Occupancy Specialist Certification (COS) within first year of employment.
- Experience with property maintenance is a plus.
