Job Description

The WIC Nutrition Manager will provide support and oversight to the WIC/CSFP/SFMNP staff and clients to ensure high quality delivery of health and nutrition services and form key partnerships with state staff, clients, businesses, and community leaders in coordination with the SNHS Child Development and Nutrition Services Director.

SUPERVISION:

Received:  Works under the direct supervision of the Child Development and Nutrition Services Director.

Exercised:

Directly supervises Lead Nutritionist, Breast Feeding and WIC coordinators, CSFP/TEFAP Manager and Quality Control Specialist and provides support to WIC nutrition staff as needed.  Provides policy guidance, training and technical assistance to ensure progress towards program objectives.

RATE: $24.72 - $29.35 (Experience will be considered)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with Child Development and Nutrition Services director on designing job descriptions, monitoring performance, annual evaluations, training and other related duties.
  • Prepare and organize reports for review and analysis by the Child Development and Nutrition Services Director.
  • Provide guidance to Lead/all Nutritionist on community committees that pertain to WIC.
  • Work in collaboration with Breastfeeding Coordinator to design and implement ongoing outreach visits/appointments to OBGYN offices, hospitals and other medical providers.
  • Act as a liaison between SNHS WIC Program and the New Hampshire State WIC Nutrition Staff.  Serve on work groups at this level.
  • Edit State WIC developed tri-monthly newsletter for WIC & CSFP participants to incorporate SNHS program specific items as needed.
  • Monitor the research, development and implement of WIC nutrition second contacts.
  • Monitor referrals made by WIC Nutritionists to Bureau of Special Medical Services.
  • Monitor referrals made by WIC Nutritionists to the NH Quit Works Line.
  • Monitor WIC Medical Supply Budget.
  • Designs job descriptions. 
  • Establishes staffing patterns and reviews annual job performance appraisals on all WIC employees.
  • Attends and participates in DHHS State bureau of Nutrition WIC Directors meetings in order to advocate for program expansion to meet the nutritional and health needs of women, infants and children in Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties.
  • Belongs to and participates in the New Hampshire WIC Directors Association.
  • Updates contractual agreements with service providers and consultant staff annually in accordance with current agreement stipulations.
  • Works to ensure WIC Program Compliance and performance in accordance with regulations and procedures for program and vendor compliance.
  • Responsible for managing the program budget, reviewing financial statements and working with the Child Development and Nutrition Services Director to develop annual budget.
  • Monitors all general program expenditures and accounts for program operating budgets.
  • Responsible for the Preparation of Contract renewal proposals for submission to DHHS State Bureau of Nutrition Services and Department of Education.  Develops program work plans for submission to the Child Development and Nutrition Services Director.
  • Responsible for the submission of program progress reports toward objectives to Child Development and Nutrition Services Director upon request in a timely manner including all program statistical and narrative reports.
  • Works in conjunction with the Child Development and Nutrition Services Director to establish, maintain and broaden program relationships, locally, statewide and nationally as appropriate with other community services and anti-hunger professionals to improve the nutritional and health aspects of family life.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel when needed.
  • Will maintain professional boundaries with all current, past, and prospective clients, and maintain the confidentiality of clients and staff, in accordance with SNHS policy and procedure.
  • Abide by all SNHS Safety policies and procedures.
  • Present professional and positive image as a representative of SNHS.
  • Responsible for having adequate knowledge of all SNHS programs and will gather sufficient intake information to make referrals to other SNHS programs which are beneficial to the client and his/her family.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of BS degree from accredited college or university, with a major focus on nutrition or the equivalent course work.
  • Two years of full-time professional experience in nutrition.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Successful completion of a Dietetic internship approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
  • One year as a Public Health Nutrition Trainee or a Master’s Degree in Nutrition from an accredited college of university; may be substituted for all the required experience.
  • Spanish speaking preferred, but not required.
