Job Description

The incumbent of this position is responsible for: Providing Practice Based Coaching and support for Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Supporting staff on the use of effective teaching practices promoting positive outcomes for children.

SUPERVISION:

Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Early Childhood Specialist, and general supervision of the Content Manager

Exercised: None.

RATE: $22.69-24.03

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement Practice Based Coaching model to fidelity.
  • Develop and maintain positive, supportive relationships with teaching staff for the purpose of supporting growth through the coaching cycle.
  • Develop and maintain schedules to support the Practice Based Coaching cycle.
  • Engage in focused observation and provide supportive and constructive feedback to support strengthening effective instructional practices.
  • Encourage, support, motivate and work collaboratively with teaching staff to develop and implement on-going goals.
  • Provide the level of support needed to meet established goals. This may include modeling, co-teaching, observing, providing materials or resources as needed.
  • Utilize specific evidence-based tools such as CLASS, Creative Curriculum Fidelity Tool, T-POT/Tippy Toes etc. to support meeting goals and supporting positive outcomes for children.
  • Promote best practices in early childhood development based on Head Start Performance Standard, State Childcare Licensing Guidelines, and other prescribed curricula used in the program.
  • Collect and analyze data related to coaching.
  • Provide additional classroom support as needed.
  • Support in establishing and implementing procedures for the ongoing monitoring to ensure effective implementation of federal requirements.
  • Collaborate with various community organizations.
  • Attend ongoing professional development opportunities to increase knowledge and strengthen practices
  • Support the mission and philosophy of the Head Start program. Work in partnership with families without judgment or bias, recognizing and respecting individual differences and backgrounds.
  • Support in Planning and provide opportunities for training and development of all staff to help them acquire or increase the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill their job responsibilities and implement HSPPS.
  • Attend and appropriately represent program/agency at local, regional, and national meetings, training, and conferences.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel when needed.
  • Will maintain professional boundaries with all current, past, and prospective clients, and maintain the confidentiality of clients and staff, in accordance with SNHS policy and procedure.
  • Abide by all SNHS Safety policies and procedures.
  • Present professional and positive image as a representative of SNHS.
  • Responsible for having adequate knowledge of all SNHS programs and will gather sufficient intake information to make referrals to other SNHS programs which are beneficial to the client and his/her family.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to relate effectively to parents of Head Start children, staff, and the community.
  • Ability to work in a team environment that supports quality and integrated services.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Understand needs of individual children with respect to their development and its relationship to learning and socialization
  • Well versed in practices such as Pyramid Model and CLASS

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Head Start/Early Head Start experience
