CCR&R T.E.A.C.H. NH Counselor (Statewide, based in Nashua - 35hrs/52wks)

The incumbent of this position is responsible for: Promoting, marketing and assisting in administration of T.E.A.C.H. NH scholarship program. Provides case management to scholarship recipients by providing counseling, support and reimbursements. Actively recruits and supports T.E.A.C.H. NH early childhood sponsors in their work with scholarship recipients to ensure academic success in achieving an Associates’ Degree in ECE and/or CDA. Actively represents T.E.A.C.H. NH’s efforts to build relationships within the early childhood community and engage early childhood stakeholders in T.E.A.C.H. NH endeavors.

Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Child Care Resource and Referral Program Manager and general supervision of the Child Development Director.

• Assist in creation and implementation of the T.E.A.C.H. NH Scholarship model in the state, under guidance of Program Manager and National T.E.A.C.H. Center.
• Assist in creation and implementation of outreach and marketing resources to all early childhood programs, including center-based and family child care, with a focus on infant/toddler programs and infant/toddler professionals, in order to promote T.E.A.C.H. NH with the CCAoNH Media and Marketing Team to include T.E.A.C.H. NH E-newsletters and other social media outlets.
• Assist in creation and establishment of a T.E.A.C.H. NH Advisory Committee under the guidance and expertise of the National Center to include early childhood stakeholders.
• Provide scholarships and stipends to T.E.A.C.H. NH recipients and support and mentor recipients in their efforts to obtain a CDA and/or an Associates’ Degree in Early Childhood Education.
• Provide support and mentoring for T.E.A.C.H. NH Sponsors (participating NH Early Childhood/Child Care Programs).
• Assist, review and process applications from potential T.E.A.C.H. NH recipients with approval from the Program Manager, as outlined by the T.E.A.C.H. NH Advisory Committee.
• Actively recruit early childhood programs to become T.E.A.C.H. NH Sponsors and maintains supportive working relationships with designated sponsors to best support T.E.A.C.H. NH recipients.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationships between the T.E.A.C.H. NH program staff and the T.E.A.C.H. National Center in order to adhere to and embrace the T.E.A.C.H. core values and principles.
• Assist in the maintenance of the necessary resources and supports to successfully facilitate this project as outlined by the National Center to include specific technology, integration, professional development and technical assistance.
• Provide administrative and day to day program operations, to include but not limited to generating award letters, accompanying forms, reviewing recipient files, monitoring scholarship components and progress, authorizing charge approvals for tuition and books, processing invoices for reimbursement, notifying recipients about raises/bonuses, recordkeeping and other clerical tasks.
• Assists with writing the program narrative to accompany quarterly data reporting relative to the contract with the funder.
• Maintains a strong collaborative relationship with community partners and other statewide organizations, including but not limited to, the Bureau of Child Development and Head Start Collaboration, the Child Care Licensing Unit, Community College System of NH, Colleges and Universities.
• Attends professional development opportunities offered, including training through the National T.E.A.C.H. Center, and as assigned.
• Assists with Referral, Recruitment, Technical Assistance and Consultation activities as assigned.
• Possess good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work as a part of a team, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, receive and provide feedback, and manage dynamic interchanges in meetings and other community outreach activities.
• Possess ability to work independently, with little supervision, and complete multiple tasks and job responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner.
• Support the mission and philosophy of SNHS Community Action Agency. Work in partnership with participants without judgment or bias, recognizing and respecting individual differences and backgrounds.
• Demonstrate the highest standards of personal integrity, truthfulness, honesty, and fortitude in all our Community Action activities in order to inspire confidence and trust in the Community Action movement.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel when needed.
• Will maintain professional boundaries with all current, past, and prospective clients, and maintain the confidentiality of clients and staff, in accordance with SNHS policy and procedure.
• Abide by all SNHS Safety policies and procedures.
• Present professional and positive image as a representative of SNHS.
• Responsible for having adequate knowledge of all SNHS programs and will gather sufficient intake information to make referrals to other SNHS programs which are beneficial to the client and his/her family.
• Perform other related duties as required.

• T.E.A.C.H. NH Counselor must have a minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Child and Family Studies or in a related field with 24 ECE credits.
• Candidate must have at least (5) five years’ experience working in an early childhood setting serving children from birth through age 8 with preferred (2) years’ experience in mentorship, coaching, counseling, and/or admissions.
• T.E.A.C.H. NH Counselor is subject to criminal background check in accordance with the New Hampshire Child Care Licensing Unit.
• The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills in addition to excellent customer service skills, collaborative ability and a high degree of professionalism. The position requires proficient computer skills in relation to data entry, word processing, and spreadsheet management.

• Experience providing career or admission counseling.
• Experience administering scholarships and/or financial incentives and stipends.
• Experience and familiarity with FileMaker Pro a plus.
